Purpose: The pressure on professionals within the healthcare workforce is increasing due to staffing shortages, economic demands and changing care models. Through boundary work theories, our study explores how task-shifting in hand osteoarthritis (OA) care impacts the professional boundaries and division of labor between rheumatologists and occupational therapists (OTs) in Norwegian specialist healthcare.

Methodology: Seventeen semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted at two hospitals in Norway.

Article Synopsis
  • Global temperature rise affects vector-borne diseases, with mosquitoes being particularly sensitive to temperature changes.
  • In New York State, researchers explored how different mosquito populations respond to varying temperatures, using new data to create predictive models for West Nile virus (WNV) transmission.
  • Findings reveal that differences in life history traits among mosquito populations can lead to notable geographic variations in WNV transmission rates, highlighting the impact of climate change on disease spread.

ALECT2 systemic amyloidosis is associated with deposition of the leukocyte cell-derived chemotaxin-2 (LECT2) protein in the form of fibrils. In ALECT2 amyloidosis, ALECT2 fibrils deposit in the glomerulus, resulting in renal failure. Patients lack effective treatment options outside of renal transplant or dialysis.

Eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEV) causes a rare but severe disease in horses and humans and is maintained in an enzootic transmission cycle between songbirds and Culiseta melanura mosquitoes. In 2019, the largest EEEV outbreak in the United States for more than 50 years occurred, centered in the Northeast. To explore the dynamics of the outbreak, we sequenced 80 isolates of EEEV and combined them with existing genomic data.
