Background: Sleep disturbances are not only frequent symptoms, but also risk factors for major depressive disorder. We previously reported that depressed patients who experienced "Hypersomnia" showed a higher and more rapid response rate under paroxetine treatment, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. The present study was conducted to clarify the beneficial effects of sleep rebound through an experimental "Hypersomnia" rat model on glucocorticoid and hippocampal neuroplasticity associated with antidepressive potency.

The energy states of molecules and the vacuum electromagnetic field can be hybridized to form a strong coupling state. In particular, it has been demonstrated that vibrational strong coupling can be used to modify the chemical dynamics of molecules. Here, we propose that ion dynamics can be altered through modifications of the dynamic hydration structure in a cavity vacuum field.

Hydrogen bonding interactions among water molecules play a critical role in chemical reactivity, dynamic proton mobility, static dielectric behavior, and the thermodynamic properties of water. In this study, we demonstrate the modification of ionic conductivity of water through hybridization with a vacuum electromagnetic field by strongly coupling the O─H stretching mode of HO to a Fabry-Perot cavity mode. The hybridization generates collective vibro-polaritonic states, thereby enhancing the proton conductivity by an order of magnitude at resonance.

One-carbon metabolism plays an important role in colorectal carcinogenesis. Meta-analyses have suggested protective associations of folate and vitamin B6 intakes with colorectal cancer primarily based on studies in Caucasians, and genetic polymorphisms pertaining to the folate metabolism have been a matter of interest. Less investigated are the roles of methionine synthase (MTR) and thymidylate synthetase (TS) polymorphisms in colorectal carcinogenesis.

Soil nematodes play crucial roles in the soil food web and are a suitable indicator for assessing soil environments and ecosystems. Previous nematode community analyses based on nematode morphology classification have been shown to be useful for assessing various soil environments. Here we have conducted DNA barcode analysis for soil nematode community analyses in Japanese soils.
