Understanding atomic friction within a liquid environment is crucial for engineering friction mechanisms and characterizing surfaces. It has been suggested that the lattice resolution of friction force microscope in liquid environments stems from a dry contact state, with all liquid molecules expelled from the area of closest approach between the tip and substrate. Here, we revisit this assertion by performing in-depth friction force microscopy experiments and molecular dynamics simulations of the influence of surrounding water molecules on the dynamic behavior of the nanotribological contact between an amorphous SiO probe and a monolayer MoS substrate.

Objectives: To investigate the microRNA profile in unilesional MF distinguishing it from early MF.
Methods: Biopsy samples of unilesional MF and early MF were evaluated with the Affymetrix microRNA array, with further comparison with inflammatory dermatosis, using quantitative polymerase chain reaction.
Background: MicroRNA (miR)-155 contributes to the proliferation of mycosis fungoides (MF) in vitro and is upregulated in tumours of MF compared with early MF lesions.
Objectives: To investigate the contribution of miR-155 to the cancerous phenotype and drug resistance of MF/Sézary cell lines.
Methods: miR-155 was inhibited in MF cell lines (MyLa and MJ) by transduction of miRZip anti-miR-155, and overexpressed in Hut78 cells by transduction of miRVec-miR-155; empty plasmids served as controls.
The 2 histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACIs) approved for the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) including mycosis fungoides/sezary syndrome (MF/SS), suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid (SAHA) and romidepsin, are associated with low rates of overall response and high rates of adverse effects. Data regarding combination treatments with HDACIs is sparse. Butyroyloxymethyl diethylphosphate (AN-7) is a novel HDACI, which was found to have selective anticancer activity in several cell lines and animal models.

ICF (immunodeficiency, centromeric instability, facial anomalies) type I patients carry mutations in DNA methyltransferase 3B (DNMT3B) that methylates de novo repetitive sequences during early embryonic development. ICF type I patient fibroblasts display hypomethylated subtelomeres, abnormally short telomeres and premature senescence.
