Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates bilateral testicular germ cell tumors (BGCT), finding that they tend to be diagnosed at a more advanced stage than unilateral germ cell tumors (GCT), potentially requiring more aggressive treatment.
  • It compares clinical characteristics, tumor pathology, and survival rates among 40 patients with BGCT and a matched group with unilateral GCT, revealing that BGCT patients are generally younger and have higher rates of nodal involvement.
  • Results indicate that synchronous BGCT cases show significantly higher local tumor stages and 18% increased disease-specific mortality, with a median interval of 92 months before a second tumor is diagnosed in contralateral cases.

Article Synopsis
  • Medical treatments for overactive bladder (OAB) show low persistence rates, with only about 37% of women continuing treatment after one year, highlighting a significant gap between clinical trial efficacy and real-world usage. -
  • A study analyzed medication data from over 46,000 women between 2010 and 2020, using advanced data-mining techniques to assess how long patients held onto their OAB medications and the sequences of treatments used. -
  • Results indicated that persistence rates were low across various medications, including Mirabegron, and showed no improvement in treatment adherence after its introduction, emphasizing the need for strategies to enhance patient retention in OAB therapy.

Background: Intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) is a newer form of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for patients with treatment resistant depression (TRD). Applying multiple daily iTBS sessions may enable patients to achieve remission more rapidly.

Objective: We compared the efficacy and tolerability of a twice-daily versus once-daily iTBS protocol in patients with TRD.

Migraine attacks can cause significant discomfort and reduced functioning for days at a time, including the pre-ictal and post-ictal periods. During the inter-ictsal period, however, migraineurs seem to function normally. It is puzzling, therefore, that event-related potentials of migraine patients often differ in the asymptomatic and inter-ictal period.

Introduction: The evaluation of response to pharmacological treatment in MDD requires 4-8 weeks. Therefore, the ability to predict response, and especially lack of response to treatment, as early as possible after treatment onset or change, is of prime significance. Many studies have demonstrated significant results regarding the ability to use EEG and ERP markers, including attention-associated markers such as P300, for early prediction of response to treatment.
