Hyperbaric oxygen treatment for toxic epidermal necrolysis: A case report.

Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) is a potentially life-threatening muco-cutaneous disease, largely caused by an idiosyncratic reaction to medication or infectious disease, and is characterised by acute necrosis of the epidermis. No definitive consensus regarding the treatment of TEN has been agreed. A 60-year-old woman, diagnosed with multiple myeloma three months prior, was admitted with signs of TEN to the intensive care burns unit.

Early Allograft Function in Renal Transplant Recipients: Is it Affected by Volatile Anesthetics?

Background: Different inhalational anesthetics have various hemodynamic effects, either on the global circulation or on renal perfusion. The purpose of the current retrospective, single-center study was to evaluate allograft function of renal transplant recipients after transplantation surgery under either sevoflurane or isoflurane anesthesia.

Methods: From January 2004 through February 2014, a total of 240 patients undergoing renal transplantation were retrospectively enrolled in this study.

Evaluation of soluble CD14 subtype (presepsin) in burn sepsis.

Background: Diagnosing sepsis is difficult in burn patients because of the inflammatory mediators that alter postburn metabolic profile. Here, we compare a new marker presepsin with procalcitonin (PCT), c-reactive protein (CRP) and white blood cell (WBC) in diagnosis and follow up of sepsis in burn patients.

Methods: Patients admitted to burn center of our institute were prospectively investigated.

Prognostic factors in electrical burns: a review of 101 patients.

Purpose: Electrical burn wounds are among the most devastating of burns, with wide-ranging injuries. We aimed to document the factors affecting the mortality rate of patients presenting with electrical burn wounds to our regional burn centre.
