Association of soluble ST2 and infarct location within 12-24 h in STEMI: A cross-sectional study.

Background: ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) causes the release of soluble ST2 biomarkers at high level on acute phase. However, sST2 has never been used as adjunct biomarker in ESC/AHA guideline for STEMI. Furthermore, the specific onset that sST2 may have role in acute phase of STEMI related with infarct location has not been established.

Efficacy of a live intranasal vaccine against parainfluenza type 3 and bovine respiratory syncytial virus in young calves with maternally derived antibodies.

Trial Design: Two randomised controlled vaccination trials with artificial challenges were carried out in addition to a serological survey of levels of maternally derived antibodies (MDA) to parainfluenza type 3 virus (PI3V) and bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) in European calves.

Participants: Ten-day-old calves with and without MDA were included in the two vaccine trials.

Interventions: Intranasal administration of a bivalent modified live (PI3V/BRSV) vaccine followed by artificial challenge approximately three months post vaccination.

Clinical Characteristics and Challenges of Management of Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury in a Trauma Center of a Developing Country.

 Traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) is a major burden in trauma care worldwide. Most victims are young, and the injury results in economic loss and psychological and social burden on the individual and the society. The outcome depends on the severity of primary spinal cord injury, interventions to prevent secondary insults to the damaged cord, and access to a specialized care.

Pure Skin Perforator Flaps: The Anatomical Vascularity of the Superthin Flap.

Background: Recently, a superthin "pure skin perforator" flap without any subcutaneous tissue was proposed, but the vascularity is still unclear. The authors therefore investigated the vascularity of the proposed superficial circumflex iliac artery-pure skin perforator along with its clinical applications and findings on indocyanine green imaging.

Methods: The locations and dimension of 70 pure skin perforators on 40 flaps were investigated and classified into central-peripheral and mediolateral parts.

Retrospective study of childhood burkitts lymphoma in north eastern Nigeria.

Background: Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) is one of the leading childhood cancers in tropical Africa. Despite this, after extensive literature search most literature reviews on BL found were old. Therefore, it is useful to learn the trend in the epidemiology of BL in north eastern Nigeria especially now that changing ecology of the disease are being published.
