Centralising soft tissue sarcoma (STS) treatment in expert centres and implementing comprehensive therapy concepts through interdisciplinary tumour boards (ITB) has led to significant treatment progress. However, our knowledge on the implementation of the ITB recommendations and its impact on patient outcome is limited. In this retrospective analysis, we examined a cohort of 222 adult patients (pts) with primary STS who were presented to the ITB of the Charité Comprehensive Cancer Centre between 2015 and 2020.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between femoroacetabular morphology and the mechanisms of traumatic posterior hip dislocations in adults, focusing on differentiating between high-energy, sports-related, and low-energy trauma.
  • A total of 141 patients with dislocations were compared to a control group, utilizing CT scans to measure various anatomical angles related to hip structure and injury.
  • Findings revealed that most dislocations were due to high-energy events, with specific morphologies (like acetabular retroversion) linked to different trauma mechanisms, while low-energy impacts showed similar anatomy to the control group.

Acetabular fractures, traditionally linked to high-impact trauma in younger adults, are increasingly observed in the elderly due to falls and poor bone quality. This demographic shift necessitates updated treatment approaches. This study analyzes demographic trends and treatment evolution over a decade using the German pelvic fracture registry.

Introduction: Over the past few decades, tumor arthroplasty has evolved into an established therapeutic approach for addressing bone defects following tumor resection in the extremities. As the diagnosis has a significant impact on patients' lives, it is important to give clear expectations for functional recovery. Therefore, we investigated both the functional outcomes and the quality of life (QoL) after tumor arthroplasty for malignant hip tumors.
