- This study reviewed 219 CP patients who underwent varus derotation osteotomy (VDRO) to assess how these social determinants affected preoperative hip displacement measurements (Reimer migration percentage) and the likelihood of requiring additional surgeries.
- Results indicated that children with higher Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) levels had worse hip displacement (higher Reimer MP), suggesting the need for earlier intervention could be vital in improving surgical outcomes, especially for those in disadvantaged socioeconomic conditions.
Objective: Patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) require life-long glucocorticoid replacement, including stress dosing (SD). This study prospectively assessed adrenal crisis (AC) incidence, frequency, and details of SD and disease knowledge in adult and paediatric patients and their parents.
Design: Prospective, observational study.
Objective: Of children, 30% to 35% with cerebral palsy (CP) develop hip subluxation or dislocation and often require reconstructive hip surgery, including varus derotation osteotomy (VDRO). A recent literature review identified postoperative fractures as the most common complication (9.4%) of VDROs.
