A 60-year-old man was referred to our hospital presenting with unconsciousness due to severe hyponatremia. The twelve‑lead ECG on admission exhibited prominent J waves in the inferolateral leads. During the treatment for hyponatremia, ventricular fibrillation (VF) occurred and the electrogram (ECG) after the VF incident exhibited marked ST elevation in the inferolateral leads.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a lethal genetic disorder caused by mutation of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene. Despite recent groundbreaking approval of genotype-specific small-molecule drugs, a significant portion of CF patients still lack effective therapeutic options that address the underlying cause of the disease. Through a phenotypic high-throughput screen of approximately 54,000 small molecules, we identified a novel class of CFTR modulators called amplifiers.

Because cancer is associated with aging, immunological features in the aged should be considered in anticancer immunotherapy. In this study, we investigated antitumor immunity in aged mice using a CT26 colon carcinoma model. The tumor growth of CT26 was accelerated in aged mice compared with that in young mice, but this difference was not observed in nude mice.
