In the present study, the effects of glucono-δ-lactone (GDL) as an acid reagent during thermal treatment on the quality of alkaline dough and steamed buns were examined. During the heating process, GDL improved the viscoelasticity and fluidity of the alkaline dough and enhanced intermolecular hydrogen bonding. The hardness of steamed buns was reduced by 61.

The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 system has revolutionized targeted mutagenesis, but screening for mutations in large sample pools can be time-consuming and costly. We present an efficient and cost-effective polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based strategy for identifying edited mutants in the T generation. Unlike previous methods, our approach addresses the challenges of large progeny populations by using T generation sequencing results for genotype prediction.

People attribute purposes in both mundane and profound ways-such as when thinking about the purpose of a knife and the purpose of a life. In three studies (total = 13,720 observations from = 3,430 participants), we tested whether these seemingly very different forms of purpose attributions might actually involve the same cognitive processes. Silicon-based anode materials experience significant volume changes and low conductivity during the lithiation process, which severely hinders their successful application in lithium-ion batteries. Reducing the size of silicon particles and effectively combining them with carbon-based materials are considered the main strategies to enhance the lithium-ion storage performance of silicon-based anodes. In this study, we employed a "bottom-up" strategy to synthesize Si@C anode materials by cross-linking octa-aminopropyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (NH-POSS) with terephthalaldehyde and subsequent high-temperature treatment and low-temperature liquid reduction.
