Addressing diagnostic uncertainty and excellence in emergency care-from multicountry policy analysis to communication practice in Australian emergency departments: a multimethod study protocol.

Introduction: Communication failings may compromise the diagnostic process and pose a risk to quality of care and patient safety. With a focus on emergency care settings, this project aims to examine the critical role and impact of communication in the diagnostic process, including in diagnosis-related health and research policy, and diagnostic patient-clinician interactions in emergency departments (EDs).

Methods And Analysis: This project uses a qualitatively driven multimethod design integrating findings from two research studies to gain a comprehensive understanding of the impact of context and communication on diagnostic excellence from diverse perspectives.

University students' sleep during the COVID-19 pandemic in the State of Hawai'i.

This study assessed undergraduates' sleep in Hawai'i during the COVID-19 pandemic and whether demographic characteristics, health locus of control, substance use and campus features related to sleep outcomes. Implications are considered for programs to support students' sleep and health during pandemic conditions. About 1,288 undergraduate students from six universities in Hawai'i.

The intra-individual variation of cardiac troponin I: the effects of sex, age, climatic season, and time between samples.

Objectives: Knowing the intra-individual variation (CVi), also termed within subject biological variation, of an analyte is essential to properly interpret apparent changes in concentration. While there have been many studies assessing the CVi of cardiac troponin (cTnI), they have been limited in looking at CVi in different settings, and there is no data available on whether CVi might change in different settings.

Methods: We used our large cTnI data bank to look at the CVi of cTnI in Emergency Department (ED) patients who had an acute myocardial infarction event excluded.

Accidental Intravascular Local Anesthetic Injection of the Facial Artery.

Local anesthesia techniques are widely used in dentistry because of their numerous advantages, including safety. Several articles have been published on local and systemic complications stemming from the use of local anesthesia, one of which is accidental intravascular injection, usually reported during inferior alveolar nerve blocks. Identifying Needs for Advancing the Profession and Workforce in Environmental Health.

An ever-changing landscape for environmental health (EH) requires in-depth assessment and analysis of the current challenges and emerging issues faced by EH professionals. The Understanding the Needs, Challenges, Opportunities, Vision, and Emerging Roles in Environmental Health initiative addressed this need.After receiving responses from more than 1700 practitioners, during an in-person workshop, focus groups identified and described priority problems and supplied context on addressing the significant challenges facing EH professionals with state health agencies and local health departments.
