Objective: To evaluate machine learning models' performance in predicting acute pancreatitis severity using early-stage variables while excluding laboratory and imaging tests.

Summary Background Data: Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) affects approximately 20% of acute pancreatitis (AP) patients and is associated with high mortality rates. Accurate early prediction of SAP and in-hospital mortality is crucial for effective management.

Saltmarshes play a crucial role in carbon sequestration and storage, although they are increasingly threatened by climate change-induced sea level rise (SLR). This study assessed the potential variation in Blue Carbon stocks across regional and local scales, and estimated their economic value and potential habitat loss due to SLR based on the IPCC AR6 scenarios for 2050 and 2100 in three estuarine saltmarshes in northern Portugal, the saltmarshes of the Minho, Lima and Cávado estuaries. The combined carbon stock of these saltmarshes was 38,798 ± 2880 t of organic carbon, valued at 3.

Unlabelled: The United Nations (UN) Decade of Ocean Science highlights a need to improve the way in which scientific results effectively inform action and policies regarding the ocean. Our research contributes to achieving this goal by identifying practical actions, barriers, stakeholder contributions and resources required to increase the sustainability of activities carried out in the context of artisanal fisheries to meet UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA) Global Action Plan (GAP) Pillar targets. We conducted a novel 'social value chain analysis' via a participatory workshop to elicit perspectives of value chain actors and fisheries stakeholders associated with two Spanish artisanal common octopus () fisheries (western Asturias-Marine Stewardship Council [MSC] certified, and Galicia-non-MSC certified) about their priorities regarding sustainable octopus production and commercialization.

Background: The impact of pre-existing comorbidities on acute pancreatitis (AP) mortality is not clearly defined. Our study aims to determine the trend in AP hospital mortality and the role of comorbidities as a predictor of hospital mortality.

Methods: We analyzed patients aged ≥ 18 years hospitalized with AP diagnosis between 2016 and 2019.

Background: The relevance of elevated serum triglyceride (TG) levels in the early stages of acute pancreatitis (AP) not induced by hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) remains unclear. Our study aims to determine the role of elevated serum TG levels at admission in developing pancreatic necrosis.

Methods: We analyzed the clinical data collected prospectively from patients with AP.
