Background: Transbronchial cryobiopsies has become increasingly important in the diagnostic workup for interstitial lung diseases. The rate of complications and mortality are low compared to surgical lung biopsies, but the diagnostic yield is not as high. The reason for the lower diagnostic yield could in some cases be explained by biopsies taken too centrally or in less affected areas.

Background And Aim Of The Work: Despite Allied Health Professions (AHPs) represent a substantial part of workforce within the health system and they might give a relevant contribution to research, literature on publication productivity of AHPs working in non-research/academic institutions is scarce. The aim of this investigation was to provide point prevalence of AHPs working in a non- research/academic setting who have written at least one article published in indexed journals, in order to describe their scientific productivity.

Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out of AHPs working in large Local Health Authority in Italy, who published in journals indexed in Scopus and/or PubMed.

Background: Today, hospital rankings are based not only on basic clinical indicators, but even on quality service indicators such as patient waiting times. Improving these indicators is a very important issue for hospital management, so finding a solution to achieve it in a simple and effective way is one of the greatest goals.

Objectives: The aim of this article is to evaluate the use of a discrete event simulation model to improve healthcare processes and reduce waiting time of patients and hospital costs.

We describe a set of benzisothiazolinone (BTZ) derivatives that are potent inhibitors of monoacylglycerol lipase (MGL), the primary degrading enzyme for the endocannabinoid 2-arachidonoyl--glycerol (2-AG). Structure-activity relationship studies evaluated various substitutions on the nitrogen atom and the benzene ring of the BTZ nucleus. Optimized derivatives with nanomolar potency allowed us to investigate the mechanism of MGL inhibition.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) as a predictor of cardiovascular risk in overweight children in Tuscany, alongside traditional measures like Body Mass Index (BMI).
  • A sample of 1,575 children aged 6-11 was assessed, revealing that 64.3% were normal weight, while 31% were classified as overweight or obese, with 12.8% showing a WHtR ≥0.5.
  • The average WHtR was 0.45, indicating a significant link to BMI, and results suggest further studies are needed to establish WHtR cut-offs for Italian children.
