Clinical outcomes in cats with renal carcinoma undergoing nephrectomy: A retrospective study.

Renal carcinomas (RC) are uncommonly encountered in feline medicine. Limited information regarding clinical presentation and postoperative outcomes is available. The purpose of this multi-institutional, retrospective study was to describe the presenting features and clinical outcomes of cats with RC undergoing nephrectomy.

Short-term outcomes for surgical correction of feline medial patellar luxations via semi-cylindrical recession trochleoplasty.

Case Series Summary: Three cats (five stifles) were diagnosed with varying degrees of pelvic limb lameness secondary to medial patellar luxations (MPLs). Lameness did not resolve with medical management in any cat before referral for orthopedic evaluation. All cats underwent semi-cylindrical recession trochleoplasty (SCRT), medial fascial release and lateral imbrication for surgical repair of MPLs.

Retrospective study of 20 cats surgically treated for insulinoma.

Objective: To report the clinical signs, histopathology results, and prognostic factors for outcomes following excision for feline insulinoma (INS).

Study Design: Retrospective study.

Sample Population: Twenty client-owned cats.

Zygomatic sialocele secondary to infarction treated with sialoadenectomy in a dog.

Zygomatic salivary gland disease is not commonly reported in dogs and there is a paucity of literature reporting salivary gland disease secondary to infarction in dogs. A 9-year-old German wirehaired pointer presented with left eye exophthalmos, 3rd eyelid elevation, negative retropulsion, and pain upon opening of the mouth. Computed tomography revealed a mass extending from the left zygomatic salivary gland, consistent with a sialocele.

Ventilatory failure in a cat following radical chest wall resection for feline injection site sarcoma.

Case Summary: A 12-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair cat presented for chest wall resection and radiation therapy following incomplete surgical excision of a feline injection site sarcoma. A CT scan for surgical planning was performed under general anesthesia and showed extensive tumor infiltration of the soft tissues of the right thorax. The cat recovered uneventfully from this anesthetic event.
