Semi-quantitative adsorption for detection of antibodies to Candida albicans germ tubes by indirect immunofluorescence test.

Adsorption of antibodies against antigens expressed on the Candida albicans blastoconidia cell walls was standardized for the detection of antibodies to germ tubes by an indirect immunofluorescence test (IIFT). Sera from rabbits immunized with C. albicans bearing germ tubes, were diluted by two-fold serial dilutions to obtain specimens 1 : 640-1 : 20 positive by IIFT.

[Analysis of the results of mycological examination of skin samples from 1997 to 1998].

Fungus-like hyphochytrids associated with human disease.

We report two cases, with liver and brain abscess, respectively, where fungus-like organisms belonging to the Hyphochytriomycota were found at the site of inflammation together with Peptococcus in the first and Cysticercus cellulosae in the second case. This is the first time these groups of organisms have been reported in human material. The role of hyphochytrids in human pathology remained uncertain as they were found together with already known human pathogens.

[Clinico-laboratory characteristics and treatment of patients with trichinosis].

The severity of clinical features of trichinosis and cardiac involvement incidence were examined in the study. The values of eosinophiles, serum enzymes and serologic response to T. spiralis were determined in relation to the disease severity.
