Validation of the Histamine- and Heat-Induced Axon-Reflex Flare Response in a Nonselected Population of People With Type 1 Diabetes.

Introduction/aims: Diabetic peripheral neuropathy affects small nerve fibers early, but adequate evaluation has proven difficult. One method for functional assessment of small nerve fiber function is the axon-reflex flare (ARF) response. This study aimed to 1) validate the histamine-induced ARF response in a nonselected population with diabetes, 2) compare the response to that induced by local heating, and 3) compare both methods to an established method (quantitative sensory testing) in a nonselected population with diabetes.

Frailty and Overall Survival of Older Patients Undergoing Radiotherapy for Head and Neck Cancer: A Prospective Analysis.

Liposomal Doxorubicin, Vinblastine and Dacarbazine Plus Consolidation Radiotherapy of Residual Nodal Masses for Frontline Treatment in Older Adults With Advanced Stage Classic Hodgkin Lymphoma: Improved Outcome in a Multi-Center Real-Life Study.

In elderly patients with high-risk classic Hodgkin lymphoma (c-HL), we evaluated the impact of a new modality treatment without bleomycin, that is, liposomal doxorubicin (NPLD)-based regimen plus consolidation radiotherapy of residual nodal masses (RNMs), on overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS). In this retrospective study (2013-2023) conducted in tertiary hospitals in the bay of Naples (Italy), 50 older adults (median age, 69 years; range, 60-89) with advanced stage c-HL received frontline treatment with MVD ± irradiation. MVD consisted of 25 mg/m of NPLD along with standard Vinblastine and Dacarbazine for a total of 6 cycles (twelve iv administrations, every 2 weeks) followed by radiation of RNMs with size ≥ 2.

Prognostic Value of Coronary Artery Calcification in Patients with COVID-19 and Interstitial Pneumonia: A Case-Control Study.

Patients suffering from coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19)-related interstitial pneumonia have variable outcomes, and the risk factors for a more severe course have yet to be comprehensively identified. Cohort studies have suggested that coronary artery calcium (CAC), as estimated at chest computed tomography (CT) scan, correlated with patient outcomes. However, given that the prevalence of CAC is gender- and age-dependent, the influence of baseline confounders cannot be completely excluded.

Psychological distress and academic success: a two-year study comparing the outcome of two online interventions at a university counseling and consultation service in Italy.

Background: The mental health of college students has been a significant concern in higher education, representing a priority for the institutions. Enhancing effective online interventions could represent excellent support for university counseling services that deal with students' well-being. The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of two online interventions provided by the Counseling and Consultation Service for Students (SACS) of the University of L'Aquila (Italy), namely Videochat with Clinical Mental Health consultation (VCMH) and Therapist-supported Internet Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Ts-iCBT), a 12-module asynchronous program for anxiety management.
