Bioactive materials and biosensing technologies are emerging as pivotal tools in the early detection and management of oral cancer, a disease characterized by high morbidity and mortality rates. Recent advancements in nanotechnology have facilitated the development of innovative biosensors that utilize bioactive materials for non-invasive diagnostics, particularly through salivary analysis. These biosensors, including electrochemical, optical, and molecular types, target specific biomarkers such as DNA, RNA, and proteins associated with oral cancer.

Manganese recovery from electric arc furnace dust bioleachate: Evaluation of different precipitation agents.

This study optimized a one-step precipitation process for manganese recovery from a complex medium-bioleachate obtained from electric arc furnace dust (EAFD). The effects of pH variations and different precipitation agents, including acetone, ethanol, oxalic acid, and ammonium hydroxide, were investigated for manganese recovery. While acetone and ethanol facilitated precipitation, they did not lead to the formation of a specific manganese precipitate.

Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD) disease is a defect in the function of the Branched-chain 2-ketoacid dehydrogenase complex (BCKDH). It is caused by pathogenic biallelic variants in BCKDHA, BCKA decarboxylase, or dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase. The brain is the major organ involved in MSUD.
