From Clinical to Non-clinical Outcomes in the Treatment of HIV: An Economic and Organizational Impact Assessment.

Objective: The aim of this study was to define the economic and organizational impacts related to a broader utilization of bictegravir/emtricitabine/alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) in Italian clinical practice.

Methods: A budget impact analysis-representing the evolution of the Italian National Healthcare Service (NHS) healthcare expenditure over 3 years-was developed, considering the overall Italian population treated for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Model input variables were treatment history, therapeutic regimen, development of adverse events, achievement of an undetectable viral load and total direct healthcare costs.

Serological Response and Clinical Protection of Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination and the Role of Immunosuppressive Drugs in a Cohort of Kidney Transplant Patients.

Vaccination against SARS-CoV2 represents a key weapon to prevent COVID-19, but lower response rates to vaccination have frequently been reported in solid organ transplant recipients. The aim of our study was to evaluate the rate of seroconversion to SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines in a cohort of kidney transplant recipients and the potential role of the different immunosuppressive regimens. We conducted an observational retrospective cohort study in kidney transplant patients vaccinated for COVID-19.

Multimodality Imaging Assessment of Anomalous Aortic Origin of the Left Main Coronary Artery Presenting With Syncope and Non-ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction.

Anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery (AAOCA) is a rare congenital abnormality associated with myocardial ischemia and sudden cardiac death. We present a case of a 20 year old previously healthy male presenting with exertional syncope and non-ST elevation myocardial infarction. Coronary computed tomography angiography showed an anomalous left main coronary artery arising from the right coronary cusp with a slit-like appearance, acute angle origin, intramural course, and a subsequent inter-arterial course between the main pulmonary artery and the proximal aorta.

"Marvin, the Paranoid Android": The Case of an Alpha-PVP User in the Expanding Galaxy of NPS.

Alpha-PVP can be defined as a novel psychoactive substance (NPS)-more specifically, a novel synthetic cathinone with unpredictable stimulant effects in humans. "Marvin" arrived at a Dual Diagnosis Unit at Parco dei Tigli, Italy. He underwent a 30-day rehabilitation program to overcome his problematic Alpha-PVP use as a psychonaut.

Further evidence of lineage 2 West Nile Virus in Culex pipiens of North-Eastern Italy.

West Nile Virus lineage 1 (WNV lin1) emerged in North-Eastern Italy in 2008 and, since then, it has been detected in animals, humans and mosquitoes. Three years later, in the same area, a lineage 2 (lin2) strain of WNV was found in birds and vectors. On August the 21st, during the 2012 WNV entomological surveillance plan, a WNV lin2 strain was detected by RT-PCR in a pool of Culex pipiens mosquitoes captured in Veneto region.
