[Effects of carotid endarterectomy on quality of life of patients with ischemic disease of the brain].

Effects of operation of carotid endarterectomy (CE) on indicators of quality of life were investigated in patients with ischemic disease of the brain (IDB). The quality of life was assessed in 45 patients at the preoperative stage and in the remote postoperative period with the help of questionnaire SF-36. All the patients were divided into two groups according to the degree of the initial neurological symptoms.

[Nuclear magnetic resonance tomography in the diagnosis of prostatic cancer].

Prostatic cancer rates second among cancers occurring in males over fifty and occupies the third place among malignancies causing death. Early detection of this disease remains problematic. The authors analyze diagnostic value of NMR tomography in prostatic tumors.

[Nuclear magnetic resonance tomography in the diagnosis of prostatic diseases].

In diagnosis of prostatic disorders the authors used as an adjuvant method NMR tomography employed after previous morphologic verification of the diagnosis. The authors describe most common tomographic characteristics of chronic prostatitis, adenoma and cancer of the prostate. It is concluded that NMR tomography is most beneficial in complicated diagnostic cases when none of the standard procedures can specify pathological process, in cases of noncoincidence of clinical symptoms and histological findings.

[The effect of thrombolytic therapy with the preparation APSAC on the course of myocardial infarct].

To evaluate the influence of thrombolytic therapy (TT) on the course of acute myocardial infarction (AMI), a comparative analysis of clinical and pathological findings was conducted. The latter included post mortem examination of 35 myocardial samples from patients treated with APSAC in the acute phase of the infarction. The analysis indicated the predominance of cases with unfavourable coronary heart disease, severe myocardial damage and severe AMI complications in the group of the decreased patients.
