Flame-Made LaO-Based Nanocomposite CO Sensors as Perspective Part of GHG Monitoring System.

Continuous monitoring of greenhouse gases with high spatio-temporal resolution has lately become an urgent task because of tightening environmental restrictions. It may be addressed with an economically efficient solution, based on semiconductor metal oxide gas sensors. In the present work, CO detection in the relevant concentration range and ambient conditions was successfully effectuated by fine-particulate LaO-based materials.

Determining the Specific Activity of Anti-Rabies Sera and Immunoglobulin Using Atomic Force Microscopy of Cell Cultures.

Background: Mouse neutralization test is widely used to determine the level of anti-rabies antibodies, but it is labor-intensive and time consuming. Alternative methods for determining the neutralizing activity of anti-rabies sera and immunoglobulin in cell cultures are also known. Methods such as FAVN and RFFIT involve the use of fluorescent diagnostics.

A STUDY OF THE ULTRASTRUCTURE OF THE SURFACE OF THE TRANSPLANTABLE LINE VERO CELLS INFECTED WITH THE RABIES VIRUS (RABV, LISSAVIRUS, RHABDOVIRIDAE).

Characteristics of the effect of attenuated rabies virus strain «Moscow 3253» on morphological parameters of transplantable line Vero cells were studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM). Methods based on phase contrast microscopy and immunofluorescence were used to confirm the specificity of interaction and to identify the infectious activity of the rabies virus. Images of intact Vero cells and Vero cells infected with rabies virus were obtained at different periods of cultivation.

[Purification of waste water from the antibiotic-producing industry using synthetic sorbents].

It was shown possible to use Polysorb S-40/100, a synthetic sorbent, for after treatment of sewage from antibiotic production. Kinetic relationships between the sorption and sorbent regeneration are presented.

[Homeostasis disorders in chronic hypoxia in pregnant women with heart defects].

Central hemodynamics, free-radical lipid oxidation, anti-oxidant system, activities of lysosomal enzymes, and homeostasis system were studied in 86 pregnant women with congenital and acquired heart diseases. The studies have revealed a hypodynamic circulation type, activated lipid peroxidation processes, reduced level of alpha-tocopherol, a natural antioxidant, and activated coagulating and depressed anticoagulating system of the blood. These pathologic processes results in development of a mixed form of chronic hypoxia, augmenting with the progress of the heart condition.
