Chitosan-based hydrogels have gained considerable attention in biomedical research due to their inherent biocompatibility, biodegradability, and non-toxicity. When combined with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), the resulting hydrogels exhibit superior mechanical strength, elasticity, and swelling capacity, making them highly suitable for a range of applications, including wound healing, tissue engineering, and controlled drug delivery. In this study, we synthesized and characterized a novel PVA/gelatin/chitosan (PVA/G/C) hydrogel composite using a series of analytical techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX).

Introduction: This study aims to assess various models of psychological debriefing, their benefits, and the impact of their implementation on medical trainees & healthcare professionals' stress management skills, mental well-being, and clinical performance.

Methods: This review queried PubMed, ProQuest, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases for articles regarding psychological debriefing in medical education published through May 2024. Included studies that assessed the utilization, implementation, and effectiveness of various psychological debriefing models in the hospital setting among nursing staff, medical trainees, and attending physicians.

Four salicylidene-based dual-responsive chemosensors 1,5-bis(5-bromosalicylaldehyde)carbohydrazone (R1), 1,5-bis(5-bromosalicylaldehyde)thiocarbohydrazone (R2), 1,5-bis(3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde)carbohydrazone (R3) and 1,5-bis(3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde)thiocarbohydrazone (R4) were synthesized and characterized. The molecular structures of R1 and R3 were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique, which crystallized in the orthorhombic and monoclinic 2/ space groups, respectively. The chemosensor molecules were investigated for their recognition properties against the selected cations (K, Ca, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Fe and Al) and anions (F, Cl, Br, I, HSO, HPO, ClO, N and NO) by colorimetry, absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, H NMR spectroscopy and theoretical studies.

Increasing industrial contamination necessitates development of sustainable water treatment solutions. Photocatalysis is a green technology utilizing light-activated materials (photocatalysts), which can degrade pollutants into harmless by-products. It is an emergent need to develop a photocatalyst that presents a significant advancement for sustainable water treatment and non-toxic to the environment.

Article Synopsis
  • Generalized lichen planus (GLP) is a chronic skin condition affecting about 1% of the population and has limited research compared to other types like oral lichen planus; this study aimed to find effective steroid-sparing treatments.* -
  • The study involved 90 patients who were treated with systemic steroids and one of three therapies (azathioprine, dapsone, or narrowband UV-B) over 16 weeks, measuring itch severity and quality of life at baseline and 24 weeks.* -
  • Results showed that narrowband UV-B had the best overall improvement in itching and quality of life, with significant differences in treatment effectiveness compared to azathioprine and dapsone, and both
