Background: Actinomycetes, Gram-positive bacteria, are recognized for producing bioactive metabolites. Lonar Soda Lake, an alkaline ecosystem, hosts diverse actinomycetes with possible anticancer activities.

Aim: To assess the cytotoxic potential of fermentation metabolites from actinomycetes isolated from Lonar Soda Lake against HeLa cancer cells employing and methods.

The unidentified geochemical and physiochemical characteristics of Soda Lakes across the globe make it a novel reservoir and bring attention to scientific civic for its conceivable industrial and pharmaceutical applications. In India, in the Maharashtra state, Lonar Lake is a naturally created Soda Lake by a meteorite impact. Phylogenetic data from this lake explored a diverse array of microorganisms like haloalkaliphilic bacteria and Archaea.

Although the development of resistance by microorganisms to antimicrobial drugs has been recognized as a global public health concern, the contribution of various non-antibiotic antimicrobial agents to the development of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) remains largely neglected. The present review discusses various chemical substances and factors other than typical antibiotics, such as preservatives, disinfectants, biocides, heavy metals and improper chemical sterilization that contribute to the development of AMR. Furthermore, it encompasses the mechanisms like co-resistance and co-selection, horizontal gene transfer, changes in the composition and permeability of cell membrane, efflux pumps, transposons, biofilm formation and enzymatic degradation of antimicrobial chemicals which underlie the development of resistance to various non-antibiotic antimicrobial agents.

Background: Cancer is a dreadful disease causing thousands of deaths per year worldwide, which requires precision diagnostics and therapy. Although the selection of therapeutic regimens depends on the cancer type, chemotherapy remains a sustainable treatment strategy despite some of its known side-effects. To date, a number of natural products and their derivatives or analogues have been investigated as potent anticancer drugs.

Epilepsy is a neurological disease affecting people of all ages worldwide. Side effects of antiepileptic drugs and their association with oxidative stress stimulate the search for new drugs, which would be more affordable with fewer adverse effects. Accordingly, the aim of the present work is to evaluate the anticonvulsant effect of anacardic acid (AA), a natural compound extracted from cashew liquid (Anacardium occidentalis), in murine models, as well as its antioxidant actions in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
