Retained placenta is one of the most common complications of preterm delivery and/or mid-trimester miscarriage. It is an important cause of increased maternal morbidity and sometimes mortality especially in developing countries. It is associated with several complications that could be tasking to the facility and of great challenge to the obstetrician.

Familial trend in polycystic ovarian syndrome: report of two cases.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder with a strong genetic component. The affected females present with anovulatory cycles, a spectrum of menstrual disorders, and features of androgen excess. We present the case of two sisters who were diagnosed with PCOS and have a family history of oligomenorrhoea in their grandmother and PCOS in their mother and sisters.

An unusual presentation of perforated intrauterine contraceptive device.

Contraception is an essential component of sexual and reproductive health issues, especially in Nigeria, which has a high fertility rate. The intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) is one of the most frequently used contraceptive methods. Countless researches have helped establish the fact that an intrauterine device IUCD is a safe and effective contraceptive method for most women regardless of their health status.

Awareness and attitudes toward voluntary counseling and testing for HIV/AIDS among law undergraduates in tertiary institutions in southeast Nigeria.

Objective: To determine the knowledge of and attitudes toward voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) for human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) among undergraduates of a law faculty in tertiary institutions in Anambra State in southeast Nigeria.

Study Design: This was a cross-sectional, questionnaire-based survey conducted among law undergraduates in Anambra State using a multistage, random sampling method. The respondents were all full-time law students and were aged from 15-42 years with a mean of 21.

An analysis of uterine rupture at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi, Southeast Nigeria.

Objective: Uterine rupture is a preventable condition which has persistently remained in our environment. The aim of this study therefore is to ascertain the incidence of uterine rupture, examine the predisposing factors and maternal and fetal outcome of patients managed of uterine rupture in a tertiary hospital.

Materials And Methods: This descriptive case series was conducted at the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Nnamdi Azikiwe, University Teaching Hospital Nnewi from March 2004 to February 2009.
