An open-label, add-on study of pregabalin in patients with partial seizures: a multicenter trial in Greece.

Introduction: Pregabalin efficacy and safety as an adjunctive treatment for partial seizures was evaluated using an open-label, flexible-dose.

Study Design: In 98 adults with refractory partial epilepsy taking 1-3 anti-epileptic drugs with ≥2 seizures during an 8-week baseline period.

Methods: Pregabalin was increased to ≤600 mg/day during a 9-week dose optimization period with dosage maintained for 12 additional weeks.

Add-on topiramate in the treatment of refractory partial-onset epilepsy: clinical experience of outpatient epilepsy clinics from 11 general hospitals.

An open, prospective, observational study was performed to assess efficacy and adverse-event profile of topiramate as add-on therapy in epilepsy. Outpatient neurology clinics from 11 general hospitals in Greece participated in the study. In total, 211 patients with treatment resistant partial-onset seizures who met the inclusion criteria, were studied.

A study of hemi-field pattern reversal visual evoked potentials recorded in the interictal phase was carried out in 44 patients (22 with migraine with aura, 22 without aura) in order to determine whether migraine patients with or without aura and with headaches with strong unilateral predominance, either left or right, exhibit abnormalities after hemi-field stimulation. No differences of P100 latency were found between them and a group of 20 normal individuals, between patients suffering from migraine with aura and migraine without aura and between the affected and the non-affected side of the head.
