Background: The number of patients with heart failure (HF) is rapidly increasing as palliative care is being integrated into HF management and the need for a nursing workforce to meet these demands grows. Article Synopsis
  • Early intervention through mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) can improve outcomes, but effective prehospital detection and transport strategies were lacking before this study.
  • The study analyzed the implementation of an emergent large vessel occlusion (ELVO) screening system by emergency medical services (EMS) in Akita, Japan, and its effects on patient transport times to MT-capable hospitals.
  • Results showed that the triage group experienced shorter transport times with a notable 14-minute reduction in one hospital, and the ELVO screen had a sensitivity of 87% for accurately identifying LVO cases.

The basket-weave method is an orbicularis oris muscle reconstruction method used in primary unilateral cleft lip repair. We compared the long-term results of the basket-weave method with those of a conventional method. For primary unilateral cleft lip repair, we compared the long-term results of 7 cases in which the orbicularis oris muscle was reconstructed by use of the basket-weave method, and of 7 cases in which the reconstruction was performed by use of the conventional method.
