Introduction: Management of anorexia nervosa is difficult and few treatments have shown their effectiveness, justifying the exploration of new therapeutic approaches. Available evidence suggests an interest of psychoeducational groups in a significant number of psychiatric disorders. In patients suffering from anorexia, to date there are few groups or interventions available.

Smart Ultrasound Device for Non-Invasive Real-Time Myocardial Stiffness Quantification of the Human Heart.

Quantitative assessment of myocardial stiffness is crucial to understand and evaluate cardiac biomechanics and function. Despite the recent progresses of ultrasonic shear wave elastography, quantitative evaluation of myocardial stiffness still remains a challenge because of strong elastic anisotropy. In this paper we introduce a smart ultrasound approach for non-invasive real-time quantification of shear wave velocity (SWV) and elastic fractional anisotropy (FA) in locally transverse isotropic elastic medium such as the myocardium.

Assessing the future medical cost burden for the European health systems under alternative exposure-to-risks scenarios.

Background: Ageing populations and rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) increasingly contribute to the growing cost burden facing European healthcare systems. Few studies have attempted to quantify the future magnitude of this burden at the European level, and none of them consider the impact of potential changes in risk factor trajectories on future health expenditures.

Methods: The new microsimulation model forecasts the impact of behavioural and metabolic risk factors on NCDs, longevity and direct healthcare costs, and shows how changes in epidemiological trends can modify those impacts.

The implications of previous history of anorexia nervosa in patients with current bulimia nervosa: Alterations in daily functioning, decision-making, and bone status.

Objective: It is not yet clear what role previous history of anorexia nervosa (AN) plays in the clinical course of bulimia nervosa (BN). We aimed to investigate, using a comprehensive assessment, involving clinical characteristics, daily functioning, cognitive functions, and nutritional and physical markers in BN patients with a history of AN, and compare them with BN patients without a history of AN.

Methods: Eighty-five patients with a current episode of BN (35 with a lifetime history of AN) were analysed.

Structural differences in eating disorder psychopathology after history of childhood abuse: Insights from a Bayesian network analysis.

Childhood abuse is frequent among individuals with eating disorders and is associated with complex clinical presentations. However, to date, the differences in the presentations of eating disorders between these groups are poorly understood. The present study employed a Bayesian network approach to model the interactive network structure of eating disorder psychopathology, and to investigate the differences in symptom importance and network structure between individuals with eating disorders with and without an experience of childhood abuse in a sample 327 treatment-seeking individuals.
