Background: Neuroinflammation is a key component of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) pathology. Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) is crucial to microglial involvement in AD, mediating trem2-dependent activation and Disease-Associated Microglia (DAM) polarization. However, GWAS revealed that loss-of-function mutations of its encoding gene are an important risk factor for AD.

Synergistic Anticancer Efficacy of Curcumin and Doxorubicin Combination Treatment Inducing S-phase Cell Cycle Arrest in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Cells: An In Vitro Study.

Background: Curcumin (Cur) is a polyphenol phyto-compound found in turmeric () that inhibits tumorigenesis by introducing apoptosis and restricting cell survival and proliferation. This in vitro research article focuses on the pharmacodynamic interactions of Cur combined with the commercial drug doxorubicin (Doxo) to enhance the cytotoxicity of Doxo at lower doses against triple-negative breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-231) with the chemo-protective effect against normal HEK293 cells. In this study, we observed the dose-dependent cytotoxicity, increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, and increased chromatin condensation in combination doses compared to single doses.

Partial replacement of the tricuspid valve using cryopreserved tricuspid homograft: 20-year outcomes.

Objectives: There is limited consensus on the optimal strategy for surgical treatment of severe tricuspid valve pathology. At our institution, we have implemented a unique technique of using a tricuspid homograft with its supporting apparatus for partial replacement of the native tricuspid valve. We now present the long-term outcomes of these patients.

Evaluation of dentists' clinical practices and antibiotic use in managing endodontic emergencies in Karachi, Pakistan: a cross-sectional survey.

Background: Endodontic emergencies, often presented as acute pain or swelling, constitute a substantial challenge in dental practice. While effective management emphasizes prompt intervention, antibiotics are typically indicated only when systemic signs and symptoms are present. There is limited research exists on evaluating the knowledge and clinical approach of dental practitioners in managing endodontic emergencies from our region of the world.
