Carbon dots (CDs) are small-sized, spherical nanoparticles presenting amorphous carbon cores with nanocrystalline regions of a graphitic structure. They show unique properties such as high aqueous solubility, robust chemical inertness, and non-toxicity and can be manufactured at a relatively low cost. They are also well known for outstanding fluorescence tunability and resistance to photobleaching.

Background: Proactive drug monitoring in our national cohort of children with inflammatory bowel disease suggested that 5 mg/kg dosing of infliximab (IFX) was associated with inadequate trough levels (TLs), thus we commenced empiric 10 mg/kg dosing in 2019.

Methods: This was a retrospective study of patients commenced on 5 or 10 mg/kg IFX between 2018 and 2020. The primary outcome was pre-fourth TL ≥5 µg/mL.

Engaging peers and other substance use service providers in research increases the relevance and impact of findings, including ways to further integrate peers into the recovery workforce. Academics also have much to learn about peer recovery by engaging professionals with lived experience in collaborative research. Despite these benefits, there have been few intersectoral, peer-focused initiatives dedicated to building research skills through hands-on scientific inquiry.

Background: Clinical work-up for suspected cardiac chest pain is resource intensive. Despite expectations, high-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays have not made decision making easier. The impact of recently validated rapid triage protocols including the 0-hour/1-hour hs-cTn protocols on care and outcomes may be limited by the heterogeneity in interpretation of troponin profiles by clinicians.
