This editorial highlights the importance of catheterisation documentation and the practice of trials without catheters in improving patient outcomes in Pakistan. Acute urinary retention, a major urological emergency, needs short-term catheter placement, with a trial without a catheter used globally to reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infections. This procedure, often enhanced by alpha-1 blockers, enables patients to regain continence and promotes micturition post-catheterisation, particularly useful following surgeries such as prostatectomy.

Although lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries offer a high theoretical energy density, shuttling of dissolved sulfur and polysulfides is a major factor limiting the specific capacity, energy density, and cyclability of Li-S batteries with a liquid electrolyte. Cathode host materials with a microstructure to restrict the migration of active material may not totally eliminate the shuttling effect or may create additional problems that limit the full dissolution and redox conversion of all active cathode materials. Selecting a cathode coating binder with a multifunctional role offers a universal solution suitable for various cathode hosts.

Article Synopsis
  • Potassium (K) is super important for plants and helps them grow, which is vital for producing food around the world.
  • Plants usually get potassium from the soil, but there's not much available, so some bacteria can help release it from minerals in the ground.
  • These bacteria not only help plants get more potassium, but they can also make other nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen easier for plants to use, which is great for farming and keeping our environment safe.

Article Synopsis
  • Erythroferrone (ERFE) is crucial in iron metabolism and influences several hematologic disorders, highlighting its importance in conditions like β-thalassemia and myelodysplastic syndromes.
  • Dysregulation of ERFE contributes to anemia and iron overload, making it a promising therapeutic target for various iron-related diseases.
  • Ongoing research into ERFE's role in chronic kidney disease and other conditions suggests that modulating its activity could lead to new treatments, emphasizing its potential in improving patient outcomes in hematology.
