Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how optic disc torsion (ODT), horizontal disc tilt (HDT) angle, and ovality index (OI) affect the thickness of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and ganglion cell-inner plexiform layer (GCIPL) in healthy myopic eyes.
  • Measurements were taken from fundus photographs and swept-source optical coherence tomography, with adjustments for age and axial length.
  • Results showed that OI and HDT angle correlated with variations in RNFL and GCIPL thickness, indicating that optic disc morphology should be factored into developing myopic normative databases.

Article Synopsis
  • Non-caseating granulomatous infiltration in the myocardium is a key characteristic of cardiac sarcoidosis (CS), which can lead to serious heart issues like arrhythmias, sudden death, and heart failure.
  • Diagnosis typically involves endomyocardial biopsy, but can also be based on systemic sarcoidosis evidence and advanced imaging such as Cardiac MRI and FDG-PET, both crucial for managing CS.
  • Treatment mainly relies on corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, and involves a team approach due to the complexity of the disease, highlighting the need for more randomized trials to enhance treatment strategies.

Purpose: To evaluate the safety, efficacy, and imaging features of a novel surgical technique without endotamponade in repairing complex macular hole (MH).

Methods: Retrospective review of consecutive cases with complex MH underwent pars plana vitrectomy with temporal internal limiting membrane flap, which was stabilized using perfluorocarbon liquid and viscoelastics. At the conclusion of surgery, perfluorocarbon liquid was removed, and no endotamponade agent would be used.
