The efficiency of ultrafiltration (UF) of acidified skim milk (SM) is impaired by protein aggregation and mineral scaling. The aim of this study is to assess the potential of acidification by electrodialysis with bipolar membranes (EDBM), in comparison with citric acid (CA), prior to the UF process on filtration performance, fouling and composition of the protein concentrates. Electro-acidification, facilitated by a water-splitting reaction, decreased the pH of milk to ∼ 5.

Although bilateral optic nerve hypoplasia is more common, unilateral involvement occurs less frequently. When SOD is associated with cortical malformations, such as schizencephaly, it is referred to as Septo-optic dysplasia plus.

While radiography has traditionally been the primary modality for joint evaluation, there is a growing trend towards using ultrasonography (USG) for musculoskeletal disorders, including joint assessment. This study aimed to find the role of USG in the evaluation of OA of knee joints with comparison to the radiographs.

The diagnostic challenge arises due to overlapping clinical features. This case report highlights the importance of considering angiodysplasia in the differential diagnosis, especially when variceal bleeding is less likely, and emphasizes the role of various diagnostic modalities in accurate identification.

This parasitic infection, caused by larvae, typically affects the liver and lungs but can manifest in the pericardium, leading to potentially life-threatening complications if untreated. The 22-year-old female's escalating dyspnea posed diagnostic challenges despite inconclusive echocardiography.
