The transition towards more sustainable packaging calls for improving our ability to predict, control, and inhibit microbial growth. Despite the importance of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) in food preservation, the exact relations between MAP gases (CO, O, N) and microbial behavior are still poorly understood. Addressing this major knowledge gap requires a specific infrastructure to gain precise control over the gas composition during storage time.

The Effect of Graded Motor Imagery on Pain and Function in Individuals with Knee Osteoarthritis: A Comparative Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: To examine whether graded motor imagery (GMI) was as effective as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) in improving pain and functionality in patients with knee osteoarthritis (PwKOA).

Design: Forty-six PwKOA were randomized (1:1) into the GMI and the TENS groups. Both groups participated in home-based and functional exercises.

Multidisciplinary Approach to Perihilar and Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma: A Single-Center Experience.

Background/aims: Treatment of perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (PHCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHCC) is a challenging issue. We aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics of both tumors and the outcome of our treatment policy.

Material And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data of 117 patients who were diagnosed with PHCC or IHCC between January 2007 and September 2023.

Self-organizing nervous systems for robot swarms.

We present the self-organizing nervous system (SoNS), a robot swarm architecture based on self-organized hierarchy. The SoNS approach enables robots to autonomously establish, maintain, and reconfigure dynamic multilevel system architectures. For example, a robot swarm consisting of independent robots could transform into a single -robot SoNS and then into several independent smaller SoNSs, where each SoNS uses a temporary and dynamic hierarchy.

Validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Information Concealment Scale for Caregivers of palliative care patients.

Objectives: This methodological study aimed to establish the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Information Concealment Scale for Caregivers of palliative care patients.

Methods: The study was conducted between January and June 2023 with 155 caregivers who cared for patients hospitalized in the palliative care units of 2 hospitals in Istanbul, Turkey. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed for validity analysis.
