Transforming Trans-nasal Endoscopy Services: A multicentre service evaluation pilot project.

Objectives: To assess the impact of pilot Transnasal endoscopy (TNE) services on workforce efficiency, allocated procedure times and patient tolerance of procedures. The aim was to also understand the challenges of setting up a TNE service.

Methods: Six-month data was collected from ten sites.

Changes in frailty predict social vulnerability among home care clients living in the community followed for ten years.

Background: Among community dwelling older adults, social vulnerability increases with age. Advanced age alone does not fully explain how or why older adults become more socially vulnerable; frailty may offer a better explanation.

Objective: We aimed to understand how change in frailty relates to change in social vulnerability over time.

Caregiver Perspectives on the Impact of Child Life Specialists during Pediatric Emergency Department Visits.

Objectives: To describe and compare caregiver perceptions of their emergency department (ED) experiences with and without child life specialist (CLS) involvement in their child's overall care.

Study Design: A descriptive cross-sectional survey of caregivers of children aged 0-17 years at a tertiary care pediatric ED was completed from March to August 2021. Survey themes included perceived experience and satisfaction and the impact of child life specialists.

Predictors of willingness to participate in COVID-19 clinical trials among Black and Latino adults.

Introduction: Black and Latino individuals are underrepresented in COVID-19 treatment and vaccine clinical trials, calling for an examination of factors that may predict willingness to participate in trials.

Methods: We administered the Common Survey 2.0 developed by the Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) Against COVID-19 Disparities to 600 Black and Latino adults in Baltimore City, Prince George's County, Maryland, Montgomery County, Maryland, and Washington, DC, between October and December 2021.

Challenges and potential solutions to enrollment in a clinical trial of arteriovenous fistula vs arteriovenous graft vascular access strategy.

This article presents the rationale, challenges, and adaptive strategies employed during the initiation and execution of the arteriovenous (AV) access trial-a multicenter randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing AV fistulas and AV grafts for hemodialysis in older adults with major comorbidities. Motivated by shifts in epidemiologic landscapes and evolving guidelines moving away from a fistula-first approach and to more patient-centric approaches, the objective of this randomized controlled trial was to fill critical knowledge gaps in determining the optimal vascular access for this complex patient population. We outline the challenges encountered in patient recruitment along with measures employed to overcome these obstacles in recruitment.
