Thoracolumbar hydrated nucleus pulposus extrusion and intervertebral disc extrusion in dogs: Comparison of clinical presentation and magnetic resonance imaging findings.

Thoracolumbar hydrated nucleus pulposus extrusion (TL-HNPE) is an increasingly recognised pathology with a substantial lack of literature describing its features. The aim of this retrospective case-control study was to analyse the clinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of dogs with TL-HNPE compared to dogs affected with thoracolumbar intervertebral disc extrusion (TL-IVDE). Data from dogs diagnosed with TL-HNPE and TL-IVDE via MRI at two referral hospitals, were retrospectively collected and compared in terms of clinical signs and MRI features.

Effect of type III female genital mutilation on obstetric outcomes: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Controversial evidence suggests a potential association between female genital mutilation (FGM/C) and adverse obstetric outcomes, with type III FGM/C (infibulation) carrying the greatest risk. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess current rate of adverse obstetric outcomes in women with type III female genital mutilation and cutting (FGM/C; infibulation) delivering across different settings worldwide.

Anaesthetic management in a cat undergoing emergency craniotomy for meningioma excision.

Case Summary: A 15-year-old female spayed domestic shorthair cat underwent an emergency craniotomy to remove an intracranial meningioma causing marked midline shift, caudal transtentorial and foramen magnum herniation. Because intracranial structures are enclosed in the cranium, any volume-occupying lesions might raise intracranial pressure (ICP), compromising cerebral perfusion.

Relevance And Novel Information: This case report discusses the anaesthetic management of a cat that presented with marked bradycardia and concomitant hypotension.

Pregnancy outcome of confined placental mosaicism: meta-analysis of cohort studies.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the rate of adverse obstetrical and neonatal outcomes in pregnancies diagnosed with confined placental mosaicism relative to that of unaffected controls.

Data Sources: Web-based databases were searched using relevant key words, and articles published from 1980 to February 2022 were retrieved.

Study Eligibility Criteria: Observational studies in English language including ≥10 cases of singleton pregnancies with diagnosis of confined placental mosaicism were included.

Abnormalities of the left brachiocephalic vein (LBCVA) are rare and poorly studied prenatally. An association with congenital heart defects (CHD), extracardiac and genetic abnormalities was described. The aim of our study was to estimate the rate and summarize the available evidence concerning prenatal diagnosis, associated anomalies, and outcomes of these anomalies.
