Background And Aims: For the aggressive treatment of postoperative pain, nonpharmacological methods (NPMs) are gaining importance complementary to routine multimodal pain management. The primary aim of the study was to assess the incidence of use of NPMs in our hospital. Secondary objectives were to correlate the pain scores, patient satisfaction, and percentage of time the patient was in severe pain within 72 h postsurgery with the use of NPMs when in pain/not in pain.

Pump-probe response of the spin-orbit coupled Mott insulator Sr_{2}IrO_{4} reveals a rapid creation of low-energy optical weight and suppression of three-dimensional magnetic order on laser pumping. Postpump there is a quick reduction of the optical weight but a very slow recovery of the magnetic order-the difference is attributed to weak interlayer exchange in Sr_{2}IrO_{4} delaying the recovery of three-dimensional magnetic order. We suggest that the effect has a very different and more fundamental origin.

The cytoplasm of bacterial cells is densely packed with highly polydisperse macromolecules that exhibit size-dependent glassy dynamics. Recent research has revealed that metabolic activities in living cells can counteract the glassy nature of these macromolecules, allowing the cell to maintain critical fluidity for its growth and function. While it has been proposed that the crowded cytoplasm is responsible for this glassy behavior, a detailed analysis of the size-dependent nature of the glassy dynamics and an explanation for how cellular activity induces its fluidization remains elusive.
