Tumor lysis syndrome (TLS) is a critical oncologic emergency characterized by metabolic disturbances resulting from rapid cancer cell lysis. Rasburicase, a recombinant urate oxidase, is the primary treatment for hyperuricemia in TLS but poses a risk for methemoglobinemia in patients with glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency. We present the case of a 59-year-old male with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) who developed spontaneous TLS.

Background: For reasons not fully explained to date, contraception usage among women with HIV remains low. The aim of our study was to understand attitudes toward and lifetime use of contraception among women with HIV.
Methods: We administered an anonymous, community-informed, voluntary survey to cisgender, English-speaking women with HIV (≥18 years of age) at a Southern urban HIV clinic.
Racism is a social determinant of mental health which has a disproportionally negative impact on the experiences of psychiatric inpatients of color. Distinct differences in the physical space and clinical settings of two inpatient buildings at a hospital system in the tristate (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) area of the United States led to the present investigation of racial inequities in the assignment of patients to specific buildings and units. Archival electronic medical record data were analyzed from over 18,000 unique patients over a period of six years.
