Background: Pediatric respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)-related acute lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) commonly requires hospitalization. The Clinical Progression Scale Pediatrics (CPS-Ped) measures level of respiratory support and degree of hypoxia across a range of disease severity, but it has not been applied in infants hospitalized with severe RSV-LRTI.
Methods: We analyzed data from a prospective surveillance registry of infants hospitalized for RSV-related complications across 39 U.
This study investigated the time course of gene expression changes during the progression of persistent painful neuropathy caused by paclitaxel (PTX) in male and female mouse hindpaws and dorsal root ganglia (DRG). Bulk RNA-seq was used to examine these gene expression changes at 1, 16, and 31 days post-last PTX. At these time points, differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were predominantly related to the reduction or increase in epithelial, skin, bone, and muscle development and to angiogenesis, myelination, axonogenesis, and neurogenesis.

The goal of this study was to investigate the role of lymphotoxin beta receptor (LTβR) signaling in chemotherapy-induced intestinal damage. LTβR deficient mice exhibited heightened body weight loss, exacerbated intestinal pathology, increased proinflammatory cytokine expression, reduced IL-22 expression, and proliferation of intestinal epithelial cells following methotrexate (MTX) treatment.

Methods: We reviewed the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program-Pediatric and the multicenter Pediatric Health Information System for patients with acute appendicitis. Comparisons for demographics, clinical outcomes, and hospital charges between children with impaired development versus neurotypical children were made using independent t test or Wilcoxon rank sum tests.
Background And Objectives: High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) for bronchiolitis increased over the past decade without clear benefit. This quality improvement collaborative aimed to reduce HFNC initiation and treatment duration by 30% from baseline.
Methods: Participating hospitals either reduced HFNC initiation (Pause) or treatment duration (Holiday) in patients aged <24 months admitted for bronchiolitis.
