The spatial organization of the skin is critical for its function. In particular, the skin immune microenvironment is arranged spatially and temporally, such that imbalances in the immune milieu are indicative of disease. Spatial transcriptomic platforms are helping to provide additional insights into aberrant inflammation in tissues that are not captured by tissue processing required for single-cell RNA sequencing.

VYXEOS® is the first FDA-approved dual-API liposomal formulation containing two different chemotherapeutics, daunorubicin and cytarabine at a 1:5 molar ratio. Analysis of bulk formulation does not provide insight to size-based distribution of APIs and excipients, therefore asymmetrical flow field-flow fractionation (AF4) was utilized for the size-based separation of VYXEOS® liposomes and collected size fractions were further analyzed for the concentrations of APIs, lipid excipients, and copper. Analysis results revealed a significant variation in API distribution across the size fractions, with the larger liposomes encapsulating a higher ratio of cytarabine to daunorubicin compared to the smaller liposomes, while lipid excipient composition was held constant across the size range.

S100 proteins comprise a family of structurally related proteins that are calcium-sensitive. S100 proteins have been found to play various roles in regulation of cell apoptosis, cell proliferation and differentiation, cell migration and invasion, energy metabolism, calcium homeostasis, protein phosphorylation, anti-microbial activity and inflammation in a variety of cell types. While the specific function of many S100 proteins remains unknown, some of the S100 proteins serve as disease biomarkers as well as possible therapeutic targets in skin diseases.

Although childhood maltreatment is associated with later self-harm, the mechanism through which it might lead to self-harm is not completely understood. The purpose of this study was to examine the roles of alexithymia, dissociation, internalizing and posttraumatic symptoms in the association between exposure to childhood maltreatment and subsequent self-harm. A total of 360 adolescents were asked to complete the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, the Toronto Alexithymia Scale, the Dissociative Experience Scale, the Somatoform Dissociation Questionnaire-20, the Posttraumatic Stress Checklist for DSM-5, and the Deliberate Self-Harm Inventory.

The adsorption of foulants on photocatalytic nanoparticles can suppress their reactivity in water treatment applications by scavenging reactive species at the photocatalyst surface, screening light, or competing for surface sites. These inhibitory effects are commonly modeled using the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model, assuming that adsorbed layer compositions follow Langmuirian (equilibrium) competitive adsorption. However, this assumption has not been evaluated in complex mixtures of foulants.
