Characterization of HER2-Low Breast Tumors among a Cohort of Colombian Women.

HER2-low tumors have shown promise in response to antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) in recent clinical trials, underscoring the need to characterize this group's clinical phenotype. In this study, we aimed to explore the clinicopathological features, survival rates, and HER2 amplicon mRNA expression of women affected with HER2-low breast cancer, compared with HER2-negative and HER2-positive groups. We included 516 breast cancer patients from Colombia, for whom we compared clinicopathological features, mRNA expression of three HER2 amplicon genes ( and ), survival and risk of mortality between HER2-low cases (1+ or 2+ with negative in situ hybridization (ISH) result) with HER2-positive (3+ or 2+ with positive ISH test) and HER2-negative (0+) cases.

Genetic variants in triglyceride metabolism genes among individuals with hypertriglyceridemia in Colombia.

Background: The genetic substrate of severe hypertriglyceridemia (sHTG) in Latin America is insufficiently understood.

Objective: To identify genetic variants in genes related to triglyceride (TG) metabolism among adults with sHTG from Colombia.

Methods: In individuals with plasma TG≥880 mg/dL at least once in their lifetime, we amplified and sequenced all exons and intron/exon boundaries of the genes LPL, APOC2, APOA5, GPIHBP1 and LMF1.

Tracing the Scientific Legacy: Bibliometric Analysis of LATAM Research in Bariatric Surgery for 33 Years.

Introduction: Metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) has experienced considerable growth, addressing the challenges of obesity and its complications. The lack of a comprehensive bibliometric analysis in Latin America motivates this study, highlighting the need to understand the evolution of research in this area and its impact on clinical decision-making and health policies.

Breast cancer health disparities are linked to clinical-pathological determinants, socioeconomic inequities, and biological factors such as genetic ancestry. Cumulative lifetime stressor exposure impairs stimulus-response but not contextual learning.
