Plasmodium malariae parasites are widely observed across the tropics and sub-tropics. This slow-growing species, known to maintain chronic asymptomatic infections, has been associated with reduced antimalarial susceptibility. We analyse 251 P.

This work reports single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), and quantum mechanics calculations of the 3-helical peptide Z-(Aib)-L-Dap(Boc)-Aib-NHiPr (Aib, α-aminoisobutyric acid; Dap, 2,3-diaminopropionic acid; Z, benzyloxycarbonyl; Boc, t-butoxycarbonyl). The peptide forms a double-helical superstructure, studied by XRD and STM. Such architecture is rare in short peptides.

In this multi-ancestry genome-wide association study (GWAS) and fine mapping study of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) subsites, we analysed 19,073 cases and 38,857 controls and identified 29 independent novel loci. We provide robust evidence that a 3' UTR variant in (rs78378222, T>G) confers a 40% reduction in odds of developing overall HNSCC. We further examine the gene-environment relationship of and variants demonstrating their effects act through both smoking and alcohol use.

Objective: This study aimed to systematically review the effect of laser treatment on the bond strength of epoxy resin-based and calcium silicate-based endodontic sealers to root dentine.

Methods: The search encompassed four databases: PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, and ISI Web of Science. Inclusion criteria were limited to in vitro studies conducted on extracted human teeth evaluating bond strength in megapascals (MPa) of either epoxy resin-based or calcium silicate-based sealers, using the push-out test.

Article Synopsis
  • Lu-based radiopharmaceuticals are commonly used for targeted radionuclide therapy, but their limited availability has led to exploring Tb as an alternative due to its beneficial radiation characteristics for both therapy and imaging.
  • The study evaluated cell dosimetry using the MIRDcell code and found that while the localization of radiopharmaceuticals within cells had minor effects on nuclear dose, Tb demonstrated significantly higher dose delivery compared to Lu in small cell clusters.
  • The survival fraction of pancreatic cell clusters showed that while higher labeled cell percentages led to lower survival for Tb, no substantial differences were noted in survival fractions between Tb and Lu when comparing equivalent energy emissions, especially in larger clusters.
