Gastropods, a mollusk class including slugs and snails, represent an extraordinarily diverse and ecologically significant group of organisms featuring the largest class of invertebrates. They can be classified as aquatic and terrestrial animals having coiled shells, although some species have reduced or absent shells. Their unique body structure includes a muscular foot for locomotion, a visceral mass containing essential organs, and a distinct head region with sensory organs such as tentacles and eyes.

Snail slime (SS) is a viscous secretion obtained from different snail species. SS composition is variable according to factors such as the extraction method. Even if several papers have been published regarding this topic, the molecular mechanisms at the base of SS biological effects remain unexplored.

An atypical occurrence of Aspergillosis in leukemic patient: Brief description of a clinical case.

Herein we describe a 43 year-old Caucasian female patient with acute myeloid leukemia that developed an unconventional form of invasive Aspergillosis. For therapeutic reasons, a Groshong-type central venous catheter was positioned. Monitoring the patient's clinical conditions, positive values for C-reactive protein and galactomannan were correlated with a probably Aspergillosis.

Assessment of microbiological indoor air quality in an Italian office building equipped with an HVAC system.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the level and composition of bacteria and fungi in the indoor air of an Italian office building equipped with a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Airborne bacteria and fungi were collected in three open-space offices during different seasons. The microbial levels in the outdoor air, supply air diffusers, fan coil air flow and air treatment unit humidification water tank were used to evaluate the influence of the HVAC system on indoor air quality (IAQ).
