UTILITY OF THE 2023 BETHESDA SYSTEM AUS SUBCATEGORIZATION ON THYROID ASPIRATES.

The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (TBSRTC) is widely used for the standardized reporting of thyroid fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology. The 2023 revision of TBSRTC introduced specific subcategories for the classification of atypia of undetermined significance (AUS). This study tests the association between AUS subtypes and malignant diagnoses, namely AUS-nuclear atypia and AUS-other, in archived thyroid - FNA specimens with atypia from 2018-2022 at King Abdulaziz University Hospital.

Correlation between immunohistochemical staining and clinicopathological findings in endometrial carcinoma.

Objectives: To analyze the immunohistochemical staining pattern of mismatch repair (MMR) proteins and p53 in endometrial carcinoma cases, including different subtypes and stages, to gain insights into their role in the pathogenesis and clinical behaviour of this malignancy.

Methods: In this study, we investigate the association between MMR deficiency, p53 mutational status, and clinical outcomes in various subtypes of endometrial carcinoma. The immunohistochemical staining pattern of MMR proteins in 96 cases of endometrial carcinoma have been analyzed, including 72 endometrioid, 14 papillary serous, 5 clear cell, and 5 mixed Müllerian tumor.

Contemporary art of cell-block preparation: Overview.

Cell blocks (CBs) are paraffin-embedded versions of cytology specimens. These versions are contrasted with tissues made from surgical pathology specimens of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue. CBs enable various elective ancillary studies of a range of specimens.

The diagnostic value of add-on thyroid cell block in the evaluation of thyroid lesions.

Objectives: Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology plays a pivotal role in diagnosing thyroid nodules. Imaging assessment, followed by thyroid lesion sampling, is a widely applied clinical practice. Tissue fragments remnants are retrieved in cell-block providing an adjunct diagnostic tool for histopathology visualization and use of ancillary testing.

The Histopathological Patterns of Ovarian Neoplasms in Different Age Groups: A Retrospective Study in a Tertiary Care Center.

Objectives Ovarian cancer is one of the most prevalent neoplasms worldwide and it affects women of all ages. This study aimed to identify the common histopathological patterns of ovarian cancer among different age groups in the western region of Saudi Arabia. Methods This was a retrospective study that reviewed all ovarian specimens diagnosed as "ovarian tumors" by the Pathology Department from January 2016 to December 2020 at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Saudi Arabia.
