Ocean waves are significantly damped by biogenic surfactants, which accumulate at the sea surface in every ocean basin. The growth, development, and breaking of short wind-driven surface waves are key mediators of the air-sea exchange of momentum, heat and trace gases. The mechanisms through which surfactants suppress waves have been studied in great detail through careful laboratory experimentation in quasi-one-dimensional wave tanks.

Background: There are no reliable methods in clinical practice to diagnose adrenal insufficiency (AI) in patients with cirrhosis owing to variable cortisol-binding protein levels. This leads to unreliable results in ACTH stimulated serum cortisol test. We aimed to estimate the long-acting porcine (LA)ACTH-stimulated serum and salivary cortisol levels of patients at different stages of cirrhosis using second generation electrochemiluminescence and to determine the prevalence of true adrenal insufficiency in these patients.

Materials And Methods: The present research was conducted on a sample of 100 individuals who were in good health. The participants had an average age of 28 years and were seeking treatment at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the extraction of impacted mandibular third molars.
