Incidental mishaps and learning curves during free fibula reconstruction of mandible: a case report.

Background: Free fibula reconstruction of the mandible has been the gold standard for reconstruction of mandible owing to its rich periosteal and peroneal blood vessel supply. This demands a multidisciplinary approach of maxillofacial and plastic surgeons. Meticulous presurgical planning of harvesting fibula, resection of diseased bone, contouring the fibula to the created defect to restore the anatomy and function, microvascular anastomosis, and postoperative medical care are vital for the survival of the flap.

Detection of concha bullosa using deep learning models in cone-beam computed tomography images: a feasibility study.

Background: Pneumatization of turbinates, also known as concha bullosa (CB), is associated with nasal septal deviation and sinonasal pathologies. This study aims to evaluate the performance of deep learning models in detecting CB in coronal cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images.

Methods: Standardized coronal images were obtained from 203 CBCT scans (83 with CB and 119 without CB) from the radiology archives of a dental teaching hospital.

Assessment of Prevalence and Factors Affecting Trismus in Cases of Oral and Oropharyngeal Malignancies after Complete Treatment.

Trismus, or restricted mouth opening is a very common and often neglected side effect in oral and oropharyngeal malignancies owing to the disease itself as well as its treatment with surgery and/or chemoradiation. This study aims at assessing the prevalence of trismus occurring after complete treatment in diagnosed cases of oral and oropharyngeal malignancy and to assess various risk factors associated with development of trismus in these patients. A prospective, observational study conducted over a 2 years at a tertiary care hospital.

Background: Ki-67, a nuclear protein is found in cells undergoing proliferation during the cell cycle. It has been established as an important tumor proliferation and prognostic marker. An increased expression of Ki-67 is observed in inflammation.
