The aim of the research was to study the peculiarities of colonization of intestinal tract by Candida - in children with leukemia. It was found that in 32 out of 54 patients with leukaemia the quantity of intestinal KOE Candida in 1 g feces was correlated with the incidence of candidemia. The quantity of intestinal KOE/g Candida was higher in patients receiving antileukemic chemotherapy and antibacterial antibiotics than in normal subjects in patients with The quantity of Candida KOE/g feces was >10(5) cells per 1g of substrate.

It was demonstrated that there was an increased quantity of antibodies to blood platelets and an increased quantity of large, medium-size and small circulating immune complexes in patients with beta-thalassemia and especially in those, who did not undergo splenectomy; there was also an increased quantity of immunoglobulins of classes A, M, and G, a reduced total activity of the complement and a high parameter of the degree of endogenous intoxication, i.e.

Studies of Ca2+, MG(2+)- dependent deoxyribonuclease from myocardial nuclear extracts exhibited that protective cell mechanisms appear t be induced at the first steps of tissue ischemic impairments as well as that diabetes decreased cardiac sensitivity to ischemia.
