Microtubule-stabilizing agents (enfortumab vedotin and brentuximab vedotin) and microtubule-disrupting agents (docetaxel and paclitaxel) are used as anticancer agents but can also induce drug eruptions. Recently, mitotic arrest figures have been reported in various non-neoplastic cells as the histopathologic side effect of these drug eruptions. Therefore, we performed a comparative analysis of drug eruptions associated with these microtubule-targeting agents.

Article Synopsis
  • Exercise-induced premature ventricular contractions (EIPVC) are linked to higher mortality rates, but their connection to coronary artery disease (CAD) is unclear; this study aimed to clarify this relationship in individuals over 35 with cardiovascular risk factors.
  • Researchers divided patients into two groups: one with EIPVC (Group A) and another showing exercise-induced ischemia (Group B), and confirmed the presence of CAD through various advanced imaging techniques.
  • Among the patients analyzed (46 with EIPVC and 71 showing ischemia), only 11% of those in Group A had CAD compared to 54% in Group B, indicating that EIPVC is less frequently associated with significant underlying CAD than ischemia.

Background: Cambodia strives to eliminate all species of human malaria by 2025, requiring that foci among forest-exposed populations in remote settings be addressed. This study explores malaria risk factors amongst forest-exposed groups in Mondulkiri and Kampong Speu Provinces, Cambodia as part of a multi-stage study on novel bite prevention tools (Project BITE).

Methods: A serial cross-sectional survey explored the demographics, housing structure openness, mosquito bite prevention habits, and gaps in protection amongst three target groups: forest goers who work in the forest, forest dwellers who live in the forest, and forest rangers who patrol forested regions.

Background: To establish simple screening tests to suspect Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology, the clinical sign "head-turning sign" (HTS), which is a patient's behavior of turning their head towards their partner to seek assistance with questions posed by the examiner during the interview, and the simple screening questionnaire for dementia named "Neucop-Q" were validated in participants diagnosed with amyloid and tau positron emission tomography (PET).

Methods: We enrolled 155 patients: 47 cognitive normal, 36 with mild cognitive impairment, 64 with dementia, and 8 with psychiatric disorders. All participants underwent Neucop-Q [three questions: Consciousness/self-awareness of cognitive disabilities (C) normal/impaired (nor/imp), Pleasure/pastime (P) nor/imp, and News/knowledge on current topics (N) nor/imp] and amyloid/tau PET.

Article Synopsis
  • Extravasation (EV) is the leakage of anticancer drugs into surrounding tissues during IV administration, which can lead to severe conditions and potentially surgical intervention, highlighting the need for updated guidelines.* -
  • A survey among Japanese cancer care professionals identified clinical challenges and led to the formulation of 17 clinical questions; systematic reviews were used to create evidence-based recommendations for prevention and treatment of EV.* -
  • New guidelines discourage certain management techniques like warm compression and local steroid injections, while also providing classifications for ten new drugs associated with EV tissue injury.*
