Hospitalisation of multiethnic older patients with AECOPD: exploration of the occurrence of anxiety, depression and factors associated with short-term hospital readmission.

Introduction: The elderly, with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), are at a higher risk of hospitalisation due to acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD). They also often encounter multiple co-morbidities.

Objectives: This study was aimed to explore the occurrence of anxiety, depression and to identify the factors associated with hospital readmission among older patients after AECOPD discharge.

The use of potentially inappropriate medications and changes in quality of life among older nursing home residents.

Background: Nursing home residents are mainly older people with multiple diseases and taking multiple medications. The quality use of medication and its association with health related quality of life (HRQoL) have not been reported in Malaysia. This study aims to investigate the association between the use of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) and the changes observed in the HRQoL among older nursing home residents.

Prevalence of genital disorders in jordanian school boys.

A prospective field study was conducted to determine the prevalence rate of cryptorchidism, hypospadias and other genital disorders in school children in the eastern part of Jordan. A total of 2495 school boys from 10 different schools were examined in May-June, 1995. Standardized examination and classification criteria were used.

Physiological training in Jordan.

The hypobaric chamber is designed as a teaching aid in providing orientation for some of the physiological stresses in flight. Reactions during chamber training vary from mild ear block to neurocirculatory collapse. This is a retrospective study on reactions from 1986-94 in the hypobaric chamber training unit at King Hussien Medical Centre in Jordan; 39 cases were reported among 705 trainees in a 12-person rectangular hypobaric chamber.
