Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on detecting multijet signatures from proton-proton collisions at a high energy of 13 TeV, analyzing a dataset totaling 128 fb^{-1}.
  • A special data scouting method is utilized to pick out events with low combined momentum in jets.
  • This research is pioneering in its investigation of electroweak particle production in R-parity violating supersymmetric models, particularly examining hadronically decaying mass-degenerate higgsinos, and it broadens the limits on the existence of R-parity violating top squarks and gluinos.

Background: It has been reported that the mitochondrial respiratory dysfunction (MRD) is important mechanisms affecting the heart failure (HF) pathogenesis. We sought to evaluate the potential role of MRD of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in HF severity prediction in patients with cardioverter-defibrillator implantation indications.

Methods: In this single-center study patients with HF of New York Heart Association (NYHA) I-III functional class (FC) and cardioverter-defibrillator implantation indications underwent transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and MRD assessment using PBMC.

The effectiveness and safety of two types of samples based on a biocompatible polymer material made of methacrylic oligomers (Reperen) as a potential antiadhesion pericardial barrier were evaluated in in vitro and in vivo experiments. Two kinds of samples, reinforced with a polyamide mesh and without reinforcement, were used. In in vitro experiments, no adhesion and aggregation of human fibroblasts to the test samples were detected.

The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

The development of chronic heart failure (CHF) was induced in 24-month-old male Wistar rats weighing 550-600 g by 4 subcutaneous injections of isoproterenol hydrochloride (ISO) at a dose of 10 mg/kg with 3-day intervals. The control group received injections of saline. The rats were euthanized 60 days after the last ISO/saline injection.
