Low grade serous ovarian cancers (LGSOC) in an advanced setting have limited systemic treatment options. In this paper we report a case of metastatic LGSOC harboring a BRAF mutation, treated with dabrafenib. We discuss the clinical, pathologic and molecular characteristics as well as surgical considerations and ongoing investigations in LGSOC.

Background: Treatment of patients with traumatic axonotmesis presents challenges. Processed human umbilical cord membrane has been recently developed with improved handling and resorption time compared to other amniotic membrane wraps, and may be beneficial in nerve reconstruction. This study evaluates postoperative outcomes after traumatic peripheral nerve injury after placement of commercially available processed human umbilical cord membrane.

Background: A global My Migraine Voice survey was conducted in 31 countries among 11,266 adults who suffered from ≥4 monthly migraine days (MMD). The aim of this retrospective observational survey-based study was to analyse the country specific results in Finland in order to understand the impact of migraine based on disease severity.

Methods: The included participants (3%, n = 338/11,266) were stratified by mean MMDs into 4 ≤ MMD < 8 (n = 133), 8 ≤ MMD < 15 (n = 139) and MMD ≥ 15 (n = 66) subgroups.

Processing of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) by γ-secretase results in generation of Aβ peptides of different lengths ranging from 51 to 30 residues. Accumulation of Aβ and in particular Aβ42 is enhanced by familial Alzheimer disease (FAD) causing mutations in APP and is believed to play a pivotal role. The molecular mechanism underlying normal Aβ production, the impact of FAD mutations on this process and how anti-amyloidogenic γ-secretase modulators (GSMs) cause a selective decrease in Aβ40 and Aβ42 and an increase in shorter Aβ peptides, however, is poorly understood.
