HCC screening with ultrasound: assessment of quality using ultrasound LI-RADS score.

Purpose: To describe ultrasound (US) quality for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) screening/surveillance using the US LI-RADS scoring system, and to assess predictive factors of worse US quality scores.

Methods: This retrospective study included adult patients (n = 470; M/F 264/206, median age 59y) at risk for HCC that underwent US for HCC screening/surveillance. US examinations were independently reviewed by 2 radiologists that assigned a visualization score (A: no/minimal, B: moderate, C: severe limitation) and US diagnostic category (US LI-RADS 1: negative, US LI-RADS 2: subthreshold, US LI-RADS 3: positive) to each study.

A Case of Unresolved and Worsening Retroperitoneal Abscess.

Retroperitoneal abscess is a rare condition which is difficult to diagnose and treat because of its insidious onset. Herein, we present a case of retroperitoneal abscess secondary to a perforation that occurred during an ERCP. A 54-year-old female patient was admitted to an outside hospital with gallstone pancreatitis and underwent ERCP with sphincterotomy followed by laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Simple renal cysts in children with AIDS.

Simple renal cysts are very uncommon among children. Of 50 children with AIDS that underwent computed tomography at our hospital, 4 had radiographically simple cysts. The incidence of simple renal cysts in this group of children is thus approximately 45 times that seen in normal children.
